This training is the first step in becoming a certified instructor/MB counselor for rifle, shotgun and pistol safety courses.  This is the NRA Basic Shotgun course.

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target.  This course is at least 10 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets.

By completing the Outdoor Preparedness program, you will earn your Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) certifications.

[(Effective September 1, 2023) Two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required at all Scouting activities, including all meetings. There must be a registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over in every unit serving females. A registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over must be present for any activity involving female youth or female adult program participants.
