Cornhusker Council NCAP (National Camp Accreditation Program)

Nine Cornhusker Council Scouters recently began their assessment of area Scout camps as part of Scouting America’s National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP).  The purpose of NCAP is to help Councils elevate Scout BSA and Cub Scout Camps to new levels of excellence in delivering Scouting’s promise to youth. Councils will engage in a rigorous review of camps and properties, continuous improvement, and correction or elimination of substandard practices.

Our team recently visited H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation (Heart of America Council in Kansas City) and Falley Scout Reservation (Jayhawk Council in Topeka, KS).

Our NCAP Team consists of:

  • John Salistean
  • Rick Wolzen
  • Alan Whitford
  • Larry Bechtel
  • Bill Lang
  • Mark Davis
  • Matt Kuhn
  • Bruce Abernethy
  • Jacob Leuenberger (Council Lead)

If you’d like to be part of this effort next year, contact the Scout Office (info@cornhuskercouncil.org) or Jake Leuenberger (elgilen.nachpikin@gmail.com). Not only do team members get the opportunity to learn all the camp standards but get to see other camps in action.  You always learn something!
