Prairie Winds District

The Prairie Winds District covers all of the western part of the Council including the counties of Polk, Butler, York, Seward, Fillmore, Saline, Thayer, a portion of western Saunders and Jefferson. Some of the cities served include Stromsburg, Rising City, David City, York, Seward, Crete, Milford, Geneva, Hebron and Fairbury.

The Klondike Derby program pays tribute to the 2018 Winter Olympics with the theme Klondike Games. Come to Klondike January 26-28th and go for the gold! Twelve activity stations will challenge Scouts both individually and as a team. While many of the activities will be very familiar to avid fans of the winter Olympics, Scouts should Be Prepared for a local twist on the traditional sports.

We have lots of new programs starting up in the new year. Check out this great new graphic that displays very nicely the new program we are launching in 2018 & 2019. We are allowing a few Cub Packs with Charter Partner Approval to start as an Early Adopter to the Family Cub Scout Program.

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest award the Cornhusker Council can bestow on a Scouting Adult. The nominations are due to the Cornhusker Council Service Center on February 28th, 2018. Please take the time to nominate that outstanding Scouter that is making a difference.

Join us for the first of many Camp Cornhusker Staff Reunions; on December 30th. We will gather at the Cornhusker Council Outdoor Education Center for lunch and fellowship.

Cornhusker Council Scout Shop will be having the best deals of the year beginning Monday, November 27 and going through Saturday, December 9th. Each day will have a new deal, and must be purchased that day.

The College of Cub Scouting is a Cub Scout leader's learning extravaganza - a big fun-filled experience where Cub Scout leaders and parents can increase their knowledge, improve their skills, and gain enthusiastic attitudes about Cub Scouting. Offered yearly, you get to choose from a wide variety of activity and learning sessions. Walk away with useful resources and tons of ideas!

The BSA’s Board of Directors unanimously approved welcoming girls into our iconic Cub Scout program and delivering a Scouting program for older girls that will enable them to advance and earn the highest rank of Eagle Scout. A unique approach allows us to maintain the integrity of the single-gender model while also meeting the needs of today’s families.

Be a part of the Prairie Winds Camporee, Oct. 20-22. Our theme is Scouting: Past to Present while we work on Pioneering Merit Badge. Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts are welcome as guests of a troop. Registration is still required for them.

The Cornhusker Council is happy to announce a Council wide Scout Spirit Week! In honor of National Constitution and Citizenship Day (September 17th), all Scouts are encouraged to honor our Country.

The national membership fee for all Scouts and Scouters will be increasing effective December 1, 2017.
